Going to Japan was always a dream to me. I always wished that I would travel outside the country and experience other people's culture. However, I never thought that I will be able to travel outside the States before I finish pharmacy school. When I first heard that there will be a travel abroad opportunity for Japan, I immediately signed up. It was like a dream come true because I can finally be able to experience the culture of Japan. However, couple of weeks after I signed up, I started to question myself i I should go. I started to question myself if I can afford the trip and will I be able to communicate with the locals. I almost backed out of the trip but I thought to myself if I would ever get a chance like this again. Will I ever be able to travel with a group of friends to see Japan and also be able to experience what pharmacy is like there? I knew I couldn't let this opportunity go and I would regret it if I did back out of it.
While in Japan, the things that I look forward to the most are the foods. Foods that I am very thrilled to try are Kobe beef, sushi, and takoyaki. I am eager to be able to try Kobe beefs' flavor, tenderness, and fatty, well-marbled texture. Being in Arizona, sushi isn't the best of quality and freshness and I would love to be able to eat some fresh sushi.
A concern that I have is being able to communicate with the locals. I do not know any Japanese and I am scared that I won't be able to communicate with them. Also, if I ever did get lost I would be scared if I don't know the way back to where everyone is at. However, being 6' 4", I don't think I would be hard to miss.
