Arima Onsen - Hot Springs at last

August 11, 201

It was another amazing day in our Japan trip! It was a completely free holiday, known as "Mountain Day" a a rather new holiday in Japan to commemorate the beauty of nature. To participate and celebrate, we took a bus to the nearby hot springs town located beyond the mountain range - Arima Onsen!

Arima Onsen was a very traditional onsen. The place we went to was called Kin no Yu, famous for its "golden waters" which was enriched with iron and was supposedly better for skin and back aches. Full nudity was not only mandatory but encouraged as they did not even offer a single towel. We were all a bit shy at first but then we realized it really did not matter.

Little thing about japanese hotsprings - First you must be fully nude, Second you have to fully clean and scrub yourself down in the adjacent shower area. It's ideal to splash some hot water on yourself to prepare for the hot bath. After, just enjoy the hot water!

We checked out the nice shops and areas around Arima before heading back to enjoy some luxurious Kobe Beef.

Stay tuned for next time when I review the Beef as well as one of my favorite bars...a  little place known as The LockUp!!
